Dear Relatives and Friends,

 

The Foundation has been in existence for 8 years. This annual report shows Gallery Activity from September 1993 through the Spring of 2001. Over 484 students representing 16 schools have received Awards and framed Certificates.  The most significant event in the history of the Foundation occurred in December 1999.   Morrey and Peter Plotkin transferred their interest in a 28 unit apartment building to the Foundation.  This virtually assures the required financial support in perpetuity.  To date, over $166,988.00 in awards have been given and it has cost $135,719.00 (2001 unusual expenses: new roof $9,000.00 and street resurface $2,168.00) to maintain the facility.  Dr. Jan Wyma is now the Consultant & Coordinator for Gallery events.  The Gallery acquired & restored two large religious paintings from the Inner City Baptist Church of San Diego and a romantic painting from a private party.

The following schools have participated in Gallery Functions:

    • Art Institute of Southern California: 7 times.
    • Azusa Pacific University: Art 3 times, Music 1 time.
    • Chapman University: Art 3 times, Music 1 time.
    • University of Southern California: Debate 1 time.
    • Loyola Marymount University: Debate 2 times, Russian Students 2 times.
    • Biola University: Art 7 times, Music 4 times.
    • Irvine Valley College: Art Dept. 7 times, Music 5 times, Theatre Arts 4 times.
    • Whitworth College: Music 1 time.
    • Saddleback College: Music 2 times.
    • Eagle Rock High School: Chorale and Orchestra 4 times.
    • Mira Costa Community College: Music 2 times.
    • Trabuco Hills High School: Art 2 times, Music 1 time.
    • Cal State Fullerton: Music 1 time.
    • Villa Park High School: Music 1 time.
    • Paul McNeff: Inner City Kidsingers.

 

In February, Irvine Valley College Fund Raiser for the South America Chorale trip.

Betty R. Plotkin (5/2/23 - 6/6/99) furnished the reception area and guest performers’ room. She established a room honoring her artist Uncle John Dominique. A Memorial Service was held June 12, 1999. This great Lady will never be forgotten (website: www.bettyrplotkin.com).

Ray Pablo installed the video, sound, phone systems and cabinetry. Ruben Moreno assists in maintenance. They provided refreshments for every function.  Isaac Khokher and Julieta Hernandez, from RRP Company assisted at all functions.   Andrea Uhler inspects the facility on a continuing basis.

The Foundation has been totally supported by Morrey and Peter Plotkin.   Pamela, Paul and Larry Plotkin continue as Directors of the Foundation.
